Unfettered Shrug 2

It is finished, the unfettered shrug. It was less work than anticipated but it took also more yarn than anticipated. 4 skeins of 150 m long cotton (durable double four) were exactly enough for this shrug. My hook was 5.0 mm

I was wrestling with the waistband, because the first time it became to wide, the second time to small. After three attempts I made the waistband in another pattern, 1 row of sc alternated with a row of hdc, repeating a few times to a height of 5-7 cm. I skipped the holes.

The order of the edges were waistband, collar edges and arm edges. But in making the collar edges, you have to fasten them to the waistband and therefore make the edge a bit skew,  but I overlooked it in the pattern. Furthermore  you have to make a curve on the frontside in the collar edges to follow the panels. Also not clear in the instructions. Because of overlooking the fastening of the collar edge to the waistband, I had to sew the collar to the panels, otherwise they should drag the panels too much. I could have frogged the collar edges but wasn’t in the mood to do it all over. Maybe had I looked to the picture of the backside I hadn’t made this mistake. Arm edges gave no problems. Only there were lots of threads left to weave in.

Last to do was finding a few buttons in my buttonbox, that suit the shrug. That was not a great problem. 3 big black buttons finished the shrug. One of them is on the inside of the front panel.

My greatest concern was, should it fit. Luckily it did perfectly.

Thank you Ellen. It fitted perfectly and was beautiful. It was a pity I couldn’t make a picture.
