Mezzaluna shawl

mlunashawlJPGMy newest project is the mezzaluna wrap. But it is not going very well. First I didn’t understand the pattern and made many a mistake. Second. my hook was to small and the wrap became very tight an so I decided to pull out my work. Third, the yarn became knotted and it was terrible to unravel the knot. So I started all over again with a bigger hook, but now i find my work to small, I am on row 14 and it counts only 18 rows and it it to small to wrap around my neck. I am thinking again to undo my work and start over with a different yarn, but I dislike such things very much for I have already so many hours crocheted on the wrap. The shawl looked very nice on the pictures, but I am very disappointed.

Birds 2

birds 2 I am very occupied with the little birds. In my yarn shop, I encountered a nice variegated yarn, suitable for a very small hook. I couldn’t resist the yarn and I made my firsts very little bird. My husband dislikes crows, with their black eyes. He thinks the crows are always looking at him. So I made him a little crow to hang on his bicycle. The crow turned out to be a very sweet birdie. On the picture You can see both birds flying together.

Lazy

I am a bit lazy today, because I am reading a book. That is not good, there is so much projects and WIP’s and UFO’s that need my attention, I can’t read books, for It means the hook is idle. I was so much drawn to my book I even forgot to make pictures of my new birds, hooks and yarn, Maybe I have time tomorrow.  Which book is it that you are reading, I hear this question in my ear from the earworm, that earlier cried Dreamer. Well it is the fourth part of the Games of Thrones. I am very absorbed in the story of winterfell and the 7 kings. And guess wat, I am reading the english edition, quit a challenge. My english is not that good. Tomorrow I take some pictures, But for now I return to my book.

Spikes

spikes

spikes

I promised Ellen a post about the spikes and toes of the starcraft characters. They are just fully occupied with these things. I have made two versions of a spike as an example. left is the spike with te right side out en on the right side is a spike with the wrong side outside. The first is difficult to crochet, the second more easily. On the first one I started at the base with a magic ring and decreased every fifth stitch. For the top I used a smaller hook. I am not satisfied with the look of it and furthermore I can’t stuff the spike. On the right side of the picture, I started at the top of the spike with a magic ring and increased every fourth stitch. The spike is more straight and easy to make, I don’t have to use a smaller hook. In half an hour a made four of them and they all look the same. Question, can you turnabout the last spike. Yes that is possible, cost a lot of time and effort and the result is round top. I have done t with wider spikes and toes. With the smaller ones it is far more difficult to do.
